Event Details
Due to demographic trends, many regions worldwide—including Hong Kong—are experiencing aging populations and increasing age diversity in the workplace. These trends can present challenges for organizations, such as skilled labor shortages, intergenerational conflicts, and difficulties in retaining institutional knowledge. However, age diversity also offers opportunities to capitalize on the complementary strengths of younger and older employees, fostering learning, growth, and enhanced performance.
In this session, our speaker will share research insights from the literature on successful aging and age diversity in the workplace, including findings from his own projects. Julian will also discuss practical implications for effectively managing an aging and age-diverse workforce.
About the Speaker
Julian Pfrombeck is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychology at CUHK and the Head of the Lifelong Learning Lab. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Organizational Behavior, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, and the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology. His work has also been featured in international and national media outlets, including The British Psychological Society and FORTUNE.
Julian earned his PhD from ETH Zurich, Switzerland, and was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Columbia University, USA, before joining CUHK. The Lifelong Learning Lab focuses on advancing research to help employees at all career stages and from diverse backgrounds thrive in an ever-evolving workplace.
