Job Descriptions

Our Psychologist provides a range of services in assessing children and young people with additional educational needs and supporting the whole school to plan interventions and implement supportive strategies, in order to enhance learning opportunities of all students of the school. The psychologist also offers training for school staff to build the capacity and confidence of the school to respond to student development needs. The key responsibilities include:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop psychology-based student growth and well-being strategies and assist in implementation and evaluation
  • Apply professional theories and knowledge in character building and holistic development of students
  • Promote and support the school to adopt the whole-school approach to inclusive education
  • Collaborate with the student support and school ethos team in designing and execution of programmes to support student growth
  • Conduct psychological assessment to identify needs and offer a range of appropriate interventions to respond to students’ special developmental needs
  • Counsel students individually or in groups to discuss specific academic, social, or emotional issues when appropriate
  • Enforce pro-social behaviours that help students achieve their best
  • Support curriculum development by applying educational psychology theories and profession
  • Develop instructional protocols and interventions for teaching staff to enhance teaching effectiveness
  • Facilitate workshops and training for parents and teachers to address common issues affecting students
  • Offer emergency counselling services in response to crises or tragedies affecting the student, staff and school community
  • Perform any other duties commensurate with its role and according to the needs of the school as directed by the supervisors

 

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Educational Psychology or Clinical Psychology, preferably recognised by the Hong Kong Psychological Society
  • Member of the Hong Kong Psychological Society or an equivalent internationally recognised professional body
  • At least 3 years relevant working experience
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with multi-tasking ability and possess positive work ethics and able to work independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese

The University is seeking to hire a full-time Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Health Policy, Health Studies and Well-being / Care Management.  Candidates should demonstrate interdisciplinary scholarship in one or more of the following areas: (1) Global or Public Health Policy Analysis; (2) Health Psychology; and (3) Health Care Management.  A strong interest in any of the following will be an advantage: (1) health and well-being for adolescence; (2) promotion of healthy living for senior citizens; (3) global health disparities; and (4) digital health.

 

The appointee will join the School of Graduate Studies (https://www.ln.edu.hk/sgs/) and the Faculty of Social Science (https://www.ln.edu.hk/socsc/) and will be expected to publish high-quality research, teaching courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and participate in academic and professional activities.  The appointee is also expected to apply for external funding to support research endeavors.

 

General Requirements

 

Candidates should have a PhD degree in the relevant discipline.  For appointment as Professor, candidates should have a distinguished record of publications in leading journals and academic achievements, and experience in academic administration.  For appointment as Associate Professor, candidates should have at least five years of relevant experience and a sound track record in research and scholarly activities.  For appointment as Assistant Professor, candidates should have relevant teaching experience, a good research record and must demonstrate good potential in publishing high quality papers.
