Event Details
With our psychology training, we know quite well about cross-cultural issues and their implications for practice. However, in IO settings, practitioners often face challenges in ‘walking the talk’, such as managing cultural diversity and translating Western theories and research into Asian contexts. In this forum with two experienced IO scholars and practitioners, we invite you to collectively reflect on how to reduce the knowing-doing gap in managing across cultures.
About the Speakers:
Prof. Michael Bond is now the Visiting Chair Professor of Management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He is a cross-cultural social psychologist whose career has been focused on locating Chinese interpersonal processes in a multi-cultural space. He has published extensively in applying social psychology to understanding cultures. Before PolyU, he taught for 35 years at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, including teaching in the IO programme.
Mr. Andrew Wong (RIOP, HKPS; CPsych, BPS) is now the Managing Partner of King Lego Consultancy and an executive committee member in DIOP. He has over 20 years of In-House HR and Consulting Experience in the areas of talent acquisition, talent assessment, organisation development, leadership development, and performance management. He was the HR Head in both local and international companies, advising talent and leadership strategies across cultures.
