1. Dr. Maggie Poon is currently in private practice. She is an experienced clinical psychologist and registered social worker. She obtained her Doctor in Psychology (Clinical Psychology) from the University of Hong Kong. She is also a certified Intermediate Level Practitioner in Emotion-Focused Therapy (Individual Therapy). Dr. Poon had worked in a government agency for about 20 years. Apart from providing psychological assessment and treatment, she is a field supervisor for clinical psychologist-in-training for the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She also conducts training for mental health professionals (e.g. psychologists, social workers and nurses) on topics like counselling, positive psychology, trauma treatment and custody evaluation. She has published books and articles on positive psychology and psychological treatment for trauma patients. 2. Dr Ivan Mak is currently a specialist psychiatrist in private practice. He is also serving as Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at Departments of Psychiatry and Family Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His previous posts included Associate Consultant Psychiatrist in the Department of Psychiatry, United Christian Hospital and Consultant Psychiatrist, in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit in the Queen Mary Hospital. His expertise and interests include mood disorders, PTSD, and child psychiatry. Dr. Mak is a Certified Cognitive Therapist in the Academy of cognitive therapy. |

After attending the course, participants should be able to understand: 1. The definition and nature of psychological trauma and sequelae, and understand their negative effects on the body, spirit and psychology 2. Psychological trauma, sequelae of trauma, diagnosis of related diseases, and assess their severity 3. The causes and diagnosis of complex trauma and Dissociative Disorders 4. The relationship between child attachment and complex trauma 5. Basic treatment principles and skills for dealing with psychological trauma, sequelae of trauma and related diseases 6. Psychiatric treatment of trauma disorder: a) Perspective of neuroscience; b) Perspectives biology and pharmacology 7.
