The Continuing Education Committee approved the circulation of the below activity to all HKPS Members, with the objective of keeping our members informed about relevant continuing education activities in the field.

Brief content:

Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an empirically-supported, 8-session, training program designed to cultivate the skills of self-compassion. Based on the groundbreaking research and clinical work of Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer, MSC teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness, care and understanding. The program integrates cutting-edge understanding of human growth and thriving based on neuroscience, positive psychology, physiology and human development. At the same time, the MSC course teaches simple, concrete and practical skills that participants can use to support and guide themselves in their everyday lives.

Rapidly expanding research clearly demonstrates that self-compassion is strongly associated with increased resilience and emotional wellbeing, less anxiety, depression and stress, maintenance of healthy habits such as diet and exercise, and satisfying personal relationships. And it’s easier than you think.

 

WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM INCLUDE?

This online MSC course includes a total of 32 hours of learning and skill development together, plus many additional opportunities for growth and contact!

•  8 core course sessions X 3 hours each (24 hours) on Mondays 6.30pm – 9.30pm Singapore Time, starting Monday 7 June ending Monday 26 July

•  7 mid-week practice sessions X 45 minutes each

•  a retreat session on Saturday 10 July

•  a participation in a Telegram group for sharing, informal reminders and asking questions

•  Detailed session summaries after every single Monday session that review the ideas and skills learned and provide additional resources of learning and development on specific points

•  Participant course booklet with descriptions of all skills and worksheets for skill development
