Dr Leah Giarratano B.A. (Hons.), M.Psych., D.Psych.

Leah Giarratano is a doctoral-level, Australian clinical psychologist who specialises in the assessment and treatment of, and professional training in traumatic stress disorders. Leah is also an author of fiction and nonfiction books, including seven books covering the assessment and treatment of psychological trauma and in the application of CBT. As a psychologist she has vast clinical and teaching expertise in traumatology, working clinically in this area in since 1995, across many trauma populations and utilising several treatment modalities. She has trained thousands of mental health clinicians in the treatment of PTSD and Complex PTSD.

Brief content:

Day Three

·      Introduction to complex trauma: history and concepts

·      Assessment and overview of treatment approach

·      Psychoeducation

·      Emotion regulation

·      Managing the therapeutic relationship

  • Problem behaviours and establishing safety

Day Four

  • Treating attachment pathology
  • Fostering metacognitive capacity
  • Facilitating collaboration (relational skills training)
  • Trauma memory work: Modifications to prolonged exposure (taught during Day 1-2); rescripting (schema therapy); imaginal confrontation (EFTT)

Published techniques drawn from: attachment-based treatment; Emotion Focused Therapy; Schema Therapy; metacognitive and mentalisation therapies; Dialectical Behaviour Therapy; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

To help clients presenting with: flashbacks, numbing and dissociation, emotional ‘hurricanes’, somatisation, self-hate, self-harming and suicidal acts, dysfunctional relationships and substance abuse.

Graduate mental health clinicians, e.g., psychologists, psychiatrists, graduate counsellors, etc. Attendees must have completed ‘Treating PTSD’ Days 1-2 by Dr Leah Giarratano.


Self-paced online with three months access commencing 1 February, 1 April, 1 July, 1 October 2021

Livestream on 11-12 March, 10-11 June, 24-25 June, 23-24 September, and 25-26 November 2021


Self-paced online participants can complete the program in their own time.

Livestream participants will complete the program over two consecutive days between 9am-5pm Australian Time or New Zealand time on the dates scheduled.




$795 Australian Dollars (Visa or Mastercard preferred and payment is debited in Australian Dollars)

Deadline for application:

Self-paced online participants can register weeks prior to 1 February, 1 April, 1 July, 1 October or in the month of commencement but will not start until printed materials are delivered by post.

Livestream participants must be registered a month prior in order to ensure printed materials are delivered before the livestream date.
